# How to find jobs in Addis Ababa without paying to apply

Where to start

Start with the organisation that will employ you. Ethiopian employers may publish vacancies on their own career pages, sometimes with in-person registration instructions rather than a web form. The official Ethiopian Airlines vacancies page, for example, specifies documents, registration place and dates for individual announcements. Those details change from role to role: never reuse an old application address or assume that a search result is still open.

For federal public-service vacancies, check the official vacancy announcements portal. It may show no active opening on a particular day. An empty official page is better evidence than a reposted advert with no current deadline. Also look at the exact ministry, university or bank's own site when a notice names an employer.

Verify before you travel or send documents

Read the full notice for job title, city, qualifications, closing date and submission method. If registration is in person, note the address and hours from the current employer notice. If an email is listed, compare its domain with the employer's site and state the position in the subject line if requested. Keep copies of the advert and your submission. Do not send original certificates to an intermediary merely because a message uses an employer's logo.

The ILO's fair recruitment principles say workers and jobseekers should not bear recruitment fees. A person promising guaranteed selection for a payment is a serious warning sign. If an employer advert has a specific administrative process, verify it directly with that employer; never treat a stranger's transfer instructions as official.

Make a shortlist of roles you can actually do. Tailor a small number of applications with clear evidence of your education or work instead of chasing every reposted link.
